Joe Chille has spent more than 40 years in broadcasting, most of it at the former WJYE 96.1FM.

Chille arrived at 96.1FM in 1978 when it was beautiful music WBNY. During his time at the station, it was owned by CBS, Infinity Broadcasting and Townsquare Media. Chille was WJYE’s operations manager. He oversaw the station’s transformation from beautiful music to soft rock in the 1980s. Under his programming leadership, “JOY” ranked consistently as the market’s number one station for adult women.

Chille also served as WJYE’s morning host and worked with co-hosts Rob Stoddard, Maryalice Demler, Nancy Barrow, Karen Vanee, C.J. Lee and Cheryl Hagen.

After leaving WJYE in 2012, Chille started his own company, Joe Chille Productions, where he produces commercials for local and radio and TV, the 220-station Bill Martinez talk network and WAVY-TV in Virginia Beach. He’s also currently involved in management with Tim Hortons/CRB Holdings.

Chille began his radio career in the early 1970s. He worked at WJJL, WYSL and WGRQ. While Joe Chille is his real name, he was also known in his early years as Dave Kennedy, Shadow Stevens and Allan West.

Chille has spent more than 35 years as a marine deputy and most recently as a communications tech for the Niagara County Sheriffs Office. He has served on numerous boards and donated his time to local non-profit groups, including the Aquarium of Niagara, the Niagara Falls Firefighters Toy Fund, the Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club and the Kids Escaping Drugs Telethon. Joe was one of the founding members of the Buffalo Broadcasters Association.

Joe lives in Lewiston. He has two children, Joe and Justine, and a new grandson, Gianni.
